Paul C Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I picked this up from a friend last week and just received the beginning of the research. It belonged to a Major Maslov in the NKVD. Below is the ORB and a picture of the him. I will post more information as I get it.
Guest Rick Research Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 That's his Red Banner ribbon first on the ribbon bar and looks like ends with Victory Over Germany. The stamp ink obscures the two ribbons in the middle. He is wearing a M1943 officer's kitel tunic with the shoulder boards removed-- typical of officers discharged after the war who did not have enough pensionable time in to be granted the privilege of wearing the uniform of their former rank. You bought any lottery tickets lately? :catjava:
Paul C Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 I received the award card and service record translation. It is very interesting.
Guest Rick Research Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 More and more interesting! Will need to see the original Russian to see which KIND of "internal security" is specified-- the fact that he was commander of security TROOPS at a FACTORY after the war suggests... something nasty. That little "gap" in his resumé 1939 to 1942 also suggests he was on the OTHER side of the wire having a "vacation" while his papers were checked.... very very intersting.... More! More!
marcotk Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 A remarkably interesting research - I agree
Guest Rick Research Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 From now on I'm going to have Paul pick out my loose Soviet awards too!
