Tony Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) The pics are great Jason, you are very lucky to have them.Is the cemetery at Beaudesert civvi or military? Just re-read, his mate is from Beaudesert and the cemetery is probably elsewhere. If you have more please keep them coming.Tony Edited December 8, 2005 by Tony

Jason Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Hi Tony, actually the cemetry shot was taken over in Palestine in a military cemetry. Unfortunatley I have no idea where it's actually located, there are no notes on the back.cheers Jason
Jason Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 ok one more....the first one from his drawing book, sorry for the poor quality, its the best I can do!
David Gregory Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Jason,This is great stuff and I would love to more if there is any.I would like to visit my Great-Grandfathers grave, which is probably only his name on a memorial, but I am still not sure whether he is remembered in Jerusalem or Gaza, as two men with exactly the same names, but having different service numbers and from different regiments, died there within a week of each other. When I have found the information I need, I would like to visit his grave/memorial in 2007, 90 years after he was killed. As far as I know, no other member of the family has been before. If his grave/memorial is in Jerusalem, then it should be fairly easy and safe to do. If he is remembered or buried in Gaza, I might wait a few years until things have quietened down there. In the mean time, images such as the ones you are showing are fascinating and prompt me to find out more about my Great-Grandfather and the time he spent in Palestine.David
Ed_Haynes Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 A really nice thread, thanks! Will start a similar one for US medals (as all my family got thrown out of the UK too early on to gain British awards).
