Chip
Do you still have relatives in the area? My wife's mother's family is from Teningen, near Emmendingen, just north of Freiberg. My sons and I were there last year.

Chip
Hardy, Yes, if you blink, you might miss Teningen! Here is the strap that matches the photo I sent you. It's a beauty! Chip Edited September 19, 2009 by Chip

Naxos
Hardy, Does this monument still exist? Chip During a recent trip to Germany I stopped in Lahr and inquired about the Lion monument. Apparently, it (together with the train-station behind) was demolished in the nineteen-seventies to make room for a new street through the city. It was quite an impressive monument. Well, at least you have the photo and the stickpin. Here is a photo of a member of the regiment, taken in Emmendinen. It would not have taken much to relocate it.
