Stijn David Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Hello, I have obtained a unmarked W?chtler & Lange iron cross 2 nd. class. No maker mark whatsoever, the cross has the back painting on the core almost 95 % retained. I noticed however on the frontdate "1939 " a major blob between the 1 & 9. Has anyone else noticed this?, could this be due to die that has become damaged at some point? All opinions are welcomeCordial greetings,
Stijn David Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 Hello, And here is a enlargement of the date => note the blob. Cordial greetings,
DavidM Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 HelloI have a W?chtler & Lange iron cross 2nd class but the 'blob' doesn't appear on mine. Is it actually part of the iron centre or is it a paint blob ?RegardsDavid
Stijn David Posted December 12, 2005 Author Posted December 12, 2005 Hello, Thank you both gentlemen for the replys. I think it is rather a blob instead of a paint blob. A paint blob could easely have been removed IMHO during the manufacturing proces. Cordial greetings,
Dave B Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I'm sure there was a thread on WAF about these blobs on certain W&L EK's,can't find it though I'll check all my W&L's tomorrow and see if I have any blobs.Dave
