bmsm Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I have what I believe to be a Russian hat badge. It looks like the USSR coat of arms but that is all I know about it. It is 2.75 in. wide and 2.81 in. high. Does anyone have an identification and the use of the badge? Thank you in advance. Bob
TacHel Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) The badge bears the coat of arms of the Soviet Union (USSR) in use between 1946 and 1956. Too big for any cap badge I've ever seen. Not an award I've ever seen. It simply might've fallen off a plaque? Edited March 6, 2010 by TacHel
TacHel Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 OK, got an ID for you. All my Russian contacts are 100% unanimous on this one... It's a repro of the badge mounted on the helmets of motorcycle escorts from the Kremlin.

TacHel Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Speak of the Devil, look at what's up for bids on eBay
bmsm Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Speak of the Devil, look at what's up for bids on eBay I see the wheat grains are gilt color on the one on eBay where mine are silvered and I didn't pay near that amount for mine when I got it several years ago as I wasn't sure of what it was.
