Chris Boonzaier Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 OK, he has something that started life as a Lebel....
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 But ended life with a thicker barrel and what looks like an added German Bayonet lug?
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 I think the old guy above is actually Landsturm? Here is another fine study for the "old Geezer" section....
Chris Liontas Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I think the first guy is definitely Landstrum. I have a photo of a guy in similar uniform. Interesting rifle though...never would have placed that one :)
Naxos Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 But ended life with a thicker barrel and what looks like an added German Bayonet lug? It appears to be a French Lebel M 1886 re-barreled with a Gewehr 88 barrel.
drakegoodman Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 A couple of "old farts" from my collection:
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 WOW! That is obscene! With a case of the shakes, these guys would hit very little when they aimed! ;-)
Beau Newman Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 That Lebel appears to have one of the adaptor sleeves as shown on Page 81 of John Walter's "The German Bayonet" added to the barrel.
