Seadog Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Good Morning all, I have just discovered this forum and have been going through the “old” posts and replied to some. Thought I should introduce myself before posting any more. I am Neville Kemp, presently working as a guesthouse manager in Stellenbosch (just outside Cape Town) South Africa. My military career included 22 years as a cadet and officer instructor in the SA Naval Cadet Corps and 21 years in the South African Navy (Marine Dog Handler). I have been a military badge “hoarder” for about 35 years but only started formulating my collections about 3 years ago. My main collection is Warrant Officer badges of Southern Africa with a sub collection of SA Navy mustering and qualification badges. A large part of my collection can be viewed at: http://community.webshots.com/user/seadog73021. I will over the next couple of posts list some of the more interesting badges I have. Looking forward to a happy relationship with the forum. Neville
Mervyn Mitton Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Neville - under the previous post I took the opportunity to say Welcome to GMIC - we are getting a lot of Sth. Africans joining now and should be ready for a coup by the end of the year ...... There is a very good thread on WO's Class 1 and 2 under British and Commonwealth. I think they would probably be interested in some of your collection. Mervyn
Mike Dwyer Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Hi, Neville! Welcome to the forum. I'm not really much of a collector, I'm mostly just a history nut! My main interest is Imperial Germany, but I do read other forums from time to time. I have a very, very small collection of a few Impeial German medals, a hundred or so old postcards of German royalty, nobility, and military officers. You've come to a truly special place. I hope you enjoy yourself.
Brian Wolfe Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Hi Neville, Welcome aboard! As Mervyn mentioned we seem to be drawing quite a few collectors from SA as of late. It's good to see new members from different parts of the world with different collecting "tastes". I'm looking forward to seeing your items posted on the GMIC, as I know many other members are as well. Regards Brian
