Paul - do you think they will notice all the empty cases in the museum ? Seriously, an incredible collection that is so very complete. You could take years to put this all together and still not have rare items like the Commissioner's outfit.

You have put a lot of work into posting all of this - however, I think it is a very worthwhile effort. For GMIC this will be the post to consult for RCMP.

I agree that I was pretty lucky to be able to get such a large collection all at once. It took the previous owner many years to put it together. I was in the right place at the right time (with the right items to swap).

Up next we have a few items that are not strictly RCMP but they are related. First up is a WWII era Canadian Provest Corps cap badge.

This came with the corresponding shoulder title.

Many of the early members of this unit were from the RCMP.

I also managed to get one of the WWII era Canada shoulder tabs.

Next up some very scarce badges, the official RCMP ID badges. This is the only badge that shows the number of the policeman in question and is not normally available to collectors.

This is a version for Inspectors.

Next up some cap badges. This is the plain anodised cap badge used post 1953. I managed to get a few of these from different makers such as Gaunt and Scully. The one shown is made by Scully.

Next up some photos to show the progression of the cap badge design. The first badge is the 1974 design. This was changed in 1978 when they added red enamel paint to the crown and made some other minor design changes. The third badge is from 1979 onwards and shows some die variances, especially around the shape of the bison head in the centre.

This is an impressive cap badge, it is an Officer's cap badge (ie Inspector and above) from the 1970s.

This is a beret badge for the Veteran's Association

This is a King's Crown version of the cap badge. Not sure if this is an original strike or a restrike made for veterans (there were a couple of official restrikes made). The metal makes me think it is a restrike since it is similar to the metal used in the 1974 badge.

This is an earlier pattern of King's Crown cap badge. This is maker marked by Gaunt but I am not sure if it is a restrike or an original striking.

Next we have some examples of the metal shoulder title. The RCMP R are for reservists in the 1950s. These are followed by brass RCMP titles from the 1950s, a few sets of metal titles from the 1960s to 1968, and finally a bilingual shoulder title which has been used from the 1968 onwards.

Here is a constable's outerwear jacket, similar to a parka style jacket and fleece lined. This is undated so not sure of the exact time period, however the shoulder badges are the 1976 pattern.
