Mike K Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 This popped up recently as a "have to have" because of the maker. Vaulted multi-piece construction, nicely silvered star burst and gilded "Peninsula" bar, matt enamel painted features, needle pin back. 40mm wide, 55mm tall. I am assuming some sort of Braunschweig veteran's item? Does anybody have any more info on this very colourful item? Regards Mike
Naxos Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) scull and Peninsula battle honors are Husaren-Regiment Nr. 17 or Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 92 related Colors and coat-of-arms of the Dutchy of Brunswick (Herzogtum Braunschweig) The castle on red background is the coat-of-arms of the Hanse City Hamburg Edited January 29, 2010 by Naxos
Wild Card Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Very nice! I have never seen one like this and have to wonder what the Hamburg connection is. At the same time, I am inclined to think that this is more related to I. R. 92 than the 17th Hussars.
Mike K Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Many thanks for the replies so far gents. Husaren connection? The piece above came with the attached 22mm diam. stickpin (marked for a Kiel maker), which I thought was unrelated so did not post it. Does this help focus the investigation? Regards Mike

Regards Mike I am inclined to agree with your thought - I cannot think of a connection. Perhaps someone else can come up with one?
