I saw a pic today (will try to scan it) of what I think was a divisional staff. One officer had a badge on his right upper arm. it looks like a black oval with silver border, in the middle the number 46 or 48....

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks

    Chris

In this case the guy who I assume to be 2ic has the badge as well.. behind the guy I assume to be the big cheese is a guy who has right sleeve badge... and what looks to be a left sleev one as well... then a guy with a left sleeve badge next to him...

See Knotels' arm badge chart-pp. 165 of Wooleys' Freikorps book. I think it's a "W" and that stands for Wallmstr. Esp. with the collar lintzen.

    Hi,

guy in post 2 has a very definite "48", guy in post 3 looks indeed like a "W" but close examination shows he was moving as the shutter went down and it is in fact an unreadable blur.

With a wot of imagination he to has a "48", but I dont think a "W"....

    best

It HAS to be 1920-21. Who was in IR 48 that year?

    Hi,

Can live with thhose dates, I know little about uniforms.

Did RW have regimental arm badges?

is it possible that this is a wehrkreis staff? seems to be all kinds of uniforms.

What I find interesting is all the EKs... and little else... these guys must have been loaded with tin!!!

    Chris,

Here are some rank insignia 1919-1920 from "Zur Geschichte der Nachrichten=Truppe 1899-1924" by Oberlt.Thiele.

yes-and waffenfarbe and letters denoted units and assignments , "B" for example was "Beamter".

That's what i kind of surmised-either that or some sor tof conference.

Yeah-too bad there's no ribbon or medal bars.
