westfale Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Hi, a few days ago I got this picture from a club member - thanks heiko! - and would like to show it here. A proud man, part of the "freiwillige kriegsfürsorge" wearing his red cross-medal 3rd class. Nothing special, but for me not often seen... regards westfale
Ulsterman Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Cool! Wasn't there also an Urkunde given to allow the brassards' wear?
westfale Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Here is the armband he is wearing. Chip Thanks for showing - now I can read all on the armband!
Naxos Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) Great image! ... this is all I can offer http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2010/post-1062-126851365719.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_03_2010/post-1062-126851389743.jpg Edited March 13, 2010 by Naxos
westfale Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Great image! ... this is all I can offer Your pictures are also really interesting - could you post them showing all? I mean all the people on them? Seems they are wearing some interesting medals/awards, too!
HeikoGrusdat Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 OK then.... one from me , the "superspecialraregoldplatinversion" of pictures like this - with a battle clasp for the red cross medal !!! Should be the one for Southwestafrica.... the only one in that portrait quality I had for all times....
westfale Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Hallo Heiko, HOAH and cheers! Really amazing picture - never seen a red-cross bar before! Jürgen
HeikoGrusdat Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Went through the hidden archives of Mordor and found two more of this branch.... First one is Carl August Berthold Hermann STURHAHN from Lippe who got (very interesting!) the Housorder 4.class Abt.B (civil honour cross) of Lippe-Detmold in 1913 as a volunteer red cross member during the Balkan war !!!
HeikoGrusdat Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 and the second one is unfortunately still without name , just the date 1902 on the reverse and the photographers stamp from Limbach in Sachsen.... can someone tell me please what exactly medal N°1 on the bar is ?
Ulsterman Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Isn't that the Saxon Carola medal? Gold 46 awards: silver 927 awards: bronze 1052 awards. 1892-1915.
westfale Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 This is a VERY unusual photo: @ 1916. Yes - guys with red cross and the iron cross - not often seen! Thanks for showing! and: Heiko, really interesting pictures!!! Thanks for showing, too Jürgen
