The badge is the BPFK badge-"fighters against capitalism and fascism ".

The man is an old vet-apparently of the 1912/13 campaign I think.

Yes indeed, he is a veteran from the Macedonian-Odrin Volunteer Force. During the Balkan War men, Bulgarians, from the regions of Macedonia and East Tracia /Odrin Tracia/ came to Kingdom Bulgaria and fought in the mentioned unit, as a part of the Bulgarian army. Although Bulgarians, their towns and villages had remained out of the Bulgarian borders, so they could not join the regular army, but formed that volunteer corps instead.

Thanks for the information. I'll have to change the title on this display of his picture and the medals.

Beuatiful group and display indeed! It'se interesting he doesn't wear any imperial time orders/medals, although he probably got some. And he's wearing his old imperial fur cap, with big cross, despite socialist orders and medals.

He may not have any royal orders. As an ordinary volunteer soldier, he may have not gained any awards. He qualified for the veteran medal, invented in the very late 1930s, but may not have received it actually.

Teodor, thanks for explanation! I assumed he should get at least commemorative medal for Balkan wars and WW1, but you're right. There were many soldiers in all armies in world wars who didn't get any medal.
