Hauptmann Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 This ran on the Discovery Times Channel. It's excellent! It's called What Happened When: November 9 1989 The Berlin Wall. It tells what happened behind the scenes, especially from the viewpoint of one of the DDR troops that was put on alert and called out to keep the borders secure. They'd not been informed that the government (as it turned out accidentally earlier than planned) decided to open the border. It shows just how close they came to bloodshed and perhaps a potential start to a war. It uses original footage, reenactments, interviews with the participants and I just can't say enough how great this is. It ran a couple of years ago and no idea if it's run since. I tried to find it online but so far with no success. But I hope ya'll will be able to see it at some point as for anyone with any interest in the DDR, the Wall, etc., this one is a must see. I did find this. Hoping perhaps it's out on DVD or someone can find it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1274286/ Dan
