Sergio Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Dear Gents, what do you think about this type of TWM? Is it modern repro? Thanks in advance.
ottomanmedal Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Hello Sergio, Your Stars are not repro.Original Stars were given to the private soldiers.
Tim B Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Sergi, Look like original "painted" versions to me. Is the last one you show made out of zinc? Tim
Sergio Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Thank you Gentlemen! I have bought the first one with the medal bar, but began to worry in occasion of its originality, because have not found such version in collections shown at this forum. Considering a construction of a pin and a writing of date with a mistake ("333"), this type of TWM is probably made in Germany(?) Edited June 12, 2010 by Sergio
Tim B Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Sergio, Well...that's interesting as I did not see the date in the smaller PIC. Was looking more at the construction and reverse. Yes, I would wait for others like Demir to comment here on this one. I posted an enamel version sometime back that had the incorrect 333 date and it was determined to be a fake. Maybe you'll have more luck. Tim

As far as the painted one above, the photo is not clear enough to tell if the "1" is there or not. It could be just on the edge. Tim, I would very much like to see more comments from others about your enameled Star. Putting aside the 333 issue, what tells us that this is a fake? Edited June 13, 2010 by TerryG
Tim B Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Hi Terry, Already sent you a PM with the link, but here's the old discussion on it. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=33689 No worries, as I returned the star last year. Shame if it was real, but the concensus was that it was fake. Oh well, Tim
TerryG Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Got the PM, thanks. I thought it would be worth looking at this again. I have seen fake Stars in Turkey but they are usually very easy to notice due to the poor quality of the enamel mainly. As for everything, just because it has unusual features, it should not be dismissed automatically as a fake. I do not believe that the 333 should be the only deciding factor. I want to learn as, if I saw your star for sale I would be tempted to buy it! Come on gents, can we have opinions and hard facts please?
Sergio Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Hello dear Gents! My medal bar with TWM has arrived today! The Star with incorrect date undoubtedly looks original. It's made of zinc with characteristic swellings of a covering.
Sergio Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) For me it looks like late German made TWM. Edited June 23, 2010 by Sergio
demir Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) Reverse Hi, This is not original Turkish made Turkish War Medal. The pin is different in the original. Here is the original Ottoman made TWM. The date is old script 333 (1333 A.H)(1915 AD). Demir Edited September 13, 2010 by demir
