I just bought a French Colonial North Africa insignia. I have seen it before, but cannot identify it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's the regimental badge of the "1° régiment de tirailleurs algériens" (natives infantry).

Yes this is definitively the badge of the 1st Regiment de Tirailleurs Algeriens (1er RTA). If you post a scan of the badge's reverse, I will be able to tell you the period of this one.

This one is likely ww2 - nicely marked Drago Beranger Depose. :)
