Noor Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Here is my today's arrival... Order of Leopold II, knight (Ordre de Léopold II, chevalier) Is it correct that this order is from pre 1951 period? Is it possible to narrow down the period even more?
Tim B Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Hi Timo, There are a couple of old threads on these that might be worth checking out. Here's one: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=35247&st=0 In a nutshell, the French only centers are for pieces prior to 1951/2 when the bilingual centers came into being. However, I believe you can still get these made to order today with either type center if desired. By the looks of this piece you show, I would guess it was made prior to the '50's but cannot really say more definate than that. I would further add a guess, that by the absence of any sword device or palm, this is probably a civilian long service award and not related to military service in any way. Tim

Order of Leopold II, knight (Ordre de Léopold II, chevalier) Is it correct that this order is from pre 1951 period? Is it possible to narrow down the period even more? Hello, This is most likely made by Fisch and such style was used from mid 1920's into 1950's. Base on my experience - most likely late 1930's. Hope this helps.
Tim B Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Yes, I would agree this style is a product of Fisch. Tim

Tim B Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Nice example Tim, Getting hard to find with the original Silver palm. Hi farmer, Yes, I need to sit down and take some better PIC's of this one as it's a bit different from my other Leopold II's. The palm is quite nice and lighter in construction than others I have. Tim
farmer Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Tim, I was just looking through some of my palms and found few that are seemingly identical on 4 of my L1's (and couple more on the L2's). Quality is very good on those.
Tim B Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hi farmer, Yes, I had started a separate thread in this section sometime back, as there appears to be several variety of palms out there. Tim
