srn
I will expose one more rare sign from the collection.
Scowen
Hope you don't mind Sergey, but I have moved your post into this new thread. Nice badge, here's mine. I've lightened the contrast a little to show the detail better, but the actual colour of the badge is the same as yours. Cheers Don
Scowen
I found this variant recently........ Notice the lack of rays or starburst coming from the centre. As before I have changed the contrast slightly to show the details, but the red is a deep colour on the actual badge. Cheers Don
Scowen
Here's a side by side comparisson of the two styles.
--dj--Joe
Design change or a different grade? --dj--Joe
Pagan
Design change or a different grade? --dj--Joe That was my thinking as well Joe. But noticed slight differences in the lettering, so I will go for design change
Scowen
Thank you for your thoughts Gentlemen. I must confess that a different grade hadn't crossed my mind, I was thinking maybe an earlier design.... We will probably never know Cheers Don
Scowen
I recently came across another with a slight variation again. This time the starburst is finer & the arms of the Swastika are slightly shorter. Probably just a die cutter's variation.... Cheers Don
Scowen
And as before, a side by side comparison.... You may need to click on the image to see it full size.
--dj--Joe
All by Fr. Zimmermann. Odd that many variants. But not unheard of. Nice set Don. --dj--Joe
Scowen
Thank you Joe. Yes it is odd, assuming of course that they are originals.... :wacky:
--dj--Joe
From looking at the obverse and reverse of the examples shown I see nothing that points to reproduction. Pre and post war use is always a possibility since it's more of a sun wheel than a swastika. Membership grades or periods of membership another possibility. Does Husken not show or discuss these? --dj--Joe
Scowen
I personally feel that they are original otherwise I wouldn't have purchased them, but these days who can say for sure. Yes Hüsken shows them, the 1997 edition shows the latest one I've shown & new edition shows the fisrt ones posted here. Neither edition shows the version without the starburst. --dj--Joe
I prefer the non starburst version. I would never doubt your eye Don. I was just typing/thinking outloud. --dj--Joe
Scowen
I can't decide which I prefer Not a problem, but it is true, it's not easy to be 100% sure all the time....
