Tim B Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Does anyone know how many different strikes of this medal were made? I have two, one marked with an "R" and the other, an "S" on the rim. Thanks, Tim "R"
Tim B Posted December 11, 2010 Author Posted December 11, 2010 and the "S". This one has a snap attachment on the ribbon btw. Tim
Carol I Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 There are also unmarked medals, medals marked with an "N", as well as medals made in silver, but the latter are very rare.
Kev in Deva Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) In my personal collection are versions with:- "R" "RR" "C" "S" and as noted above there are unmarked versions to be found and medals in quality silver, reputedly awarded to Officers. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7352&view=findpost&p=251937 Kevin in Deva. Edited December 12, 2010 by Kev in Deva
Tim B Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 Thanks you two!! I have seen some that were apparently unmarked, but I was unaware of any with the C, N, or double R. Also, never seen the version in real silver, that one would be a nice addition! Thanks again! Tim
kiwichap Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Ok, so which ones were in silver...how can you tell?
new world Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 By weigth and look of the medals? Silver ones whould have dark patina and are heavier.
Kev in Deva Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 With regard the silver version of the Commemorative Medal for the 1913 Balkan Campaign, I have seen one example with a hallmark strike on the bar that the ribbon wraps around, unfortunately, I did not have the possibility to photograph the example.
