Naxos Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Gunkel's ID card of 1918 The Prussian Guard Officer is still attached to a Bavarian unit.
Naxos Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Most interesting - on the back of the ID card there is a free-passage note. The Lt is granted free passage to return, without being held up, to his reserve-unit. The note is dated November 13, 1918 (two days after the armistice) and signed by the local leader of the revolutionary (communist) worker and soldier's council. Edited December 22, 2010 by Naxos
Naxos Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Before I show some of the photographs the Lt took himself - here is Lt Gunkel in field gear (sitting on the right)

Chip Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Hardy, Very cool. Especially love the camo helmets. That one officer is wearing the oddest tunic. Scalloped pocket flaps like on an Austrian tunic, but then Litzen on the collar. Strange. Chip
Mike Dwyer Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Lettgenheim, January 1918 - Kaiser Wilhelm's birthday parade with Oberst von Barsewisch Sadly, in my opinion, the last birthday parade they had to have.
