1870-1871 war medal for non combatants

I recently acquired this 1870-1871 non combatant medal and was interested in the length of time in which this medal was issued? This particular example is in almost mint condition, which suprised me. It is also non magnetic which is the same as a mounted example I have.

As it is not made from steel, this is a later, private purchased, replacement medal. I have no idea how long they were made/offered. I think noone knows. Likely it is from so called jubilee era, ca. 1895.

Thanks for the comments gents. At least these later pieces avoid the rust spots then tend to develop on the earlier ones.
