rusticalex Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Just thought I'd share this amusing lithograph. The artist is Braud and I guess it was painted around the mid 1800s. I know nothing else about it, so if anyone can identify the regiment, that would be interesting. Thanks Alex
coldstream Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Alex Based on the uniform colours and style I think that the unfortunate Officer depicted belongs to a Regiment of Belgian Lancers Simon
coldstream Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Alex A quick Goggle search on the name 'Braud' suggests it was used to sign paintings by one Edward Dubar who was a Belgian born artist in the 19th century which would tie in nicely with this being a Belgian Regiment. Best regards Simon
rusticalex Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Thank you Simon...maybe one of the mods could move this to the Kingdom of Belgium forum?!! Edited January 28, 2011 by rusticalex
GRA Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Hello Alex! Looking closely at the picture, I wonder if it depicts the different Belgian army lancer regiments, as all of them have different coloured lancer caps (see the lancers in the window - yellow and white, respectively), and on the two in the foreground one can see numbers on the lancer cap plates (see below). 4th Lancers, perhaps? 1st Lancers? /Jonas
