Here presented as a Grand Officer set.Following the french tradition,a Grand Officer is a silvered breast star with an Officer badge. The Order of Merit was instituted by Law 63.112/PRN of 24 June 1963,modified by Law 66.194/PRN of 11 November 1966. The Order of Merit is in 5 grades : Grand Cross - Grand Officer - Commander - Officer - Knight A minimum of 4 years is necessary between a promotion inside the Order.
