Chris Boonzaier Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 The Freiwillige Motorboot Corps was not part of the German navy, it was a volunteer paramilitary association that guarded internal waterways. It is just coincidence that this was attached to the Marinekorps....

Claudius Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Chris, That is a delightful document group you have there with an unusual unit and a recipient being so young of age. During wartime, I know that many of the men in para-military units move quickly into the military ranks. The spots vacated by these men are then filled with women or underage boys. The same thing happened in the factories as the men went off to war. Do you think that it what happened here?

Hi, But these units were operational in the war zone... I am assuming his contract was counter signed by a guardian as there are two named at the bottom. Best Chris
