trakkles Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Hello, I have following question, is it right that every original medals second class for braveness FJ all versions have the same weight of around 18g. Exactly is my question for a piece of the first version second class FJ without beard, which has 23g with ribbon. I think this not a good sign! regards
hunyadi Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Second class - silver? There were many weights and manufacturers - you have zinc, bronze with silver wash and solid silver content - each of these would have a different weight. There was also some variations on the suspension loop as well - so many variables to make "correct" weight an issue... Edited March 27, 2011 by hunyadi
trakkles Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 I mean only the types before ww1. This pieces should every time as solid silver.
Elmar Lang Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Hello, I've taken the weight of my Silberne Tapferkeitsmedaillen 2nd Class. Type 1849-1859: 18,1 g. Type 1859-1866: 17,5 g. the first, including ribbon (it is originally sewn to the piece, so I haven't removed it); the second, without ribbon. I hope this could help. Best wishes, Elmar Lang
