Award made in bronze gilt (because of the star on the ring), probably a WW1 award.

...like pinpon already wrote, Gold merit cross with crown, made by V.Mayer´s Söhne, Vienna in gild bronze during WWI (befor the war was the cross made - like it is in the name of it - from gold. The ribbon is so called "war ribbon" (introduced for merit crosses on 20.9.1914) with swords (introduced on 13.12.1916)...
