Obergefreiter Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Using the number on the rim of the service medal, where would one begin to look to find out who the medal was awarded to? The medal in question is for service on the Mexican border, just prior to WWI.
Gunner 1 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 (edited) Mexican Border Service Medal #19300 was awarded to D. L. Trisker, 28 Camden St., Newark, N.J. on May 10, 1920 Gunner 1 Edited August 16, 2011 by Gunner 1
Obergefreiter Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Thank you very much, Gunner. Now, where did you find this out?
Gunner 1 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I have photocopy of the original medal cards for some of the early US campaign medals. Regards, Gunner 1
JBFloyd Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 The rolls were privately published and getting hard to find. They were published by the late Col Al Gleim's Planchet Press. Al was the premier American medal researcher. Williams, JoAnn and Robert H. Reynolds. Mexican Border Service Medal Issue Records: Part I - Serial Number Issue Listing. Planchet Press Pub 65PI, 1996. Obergefreiter Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Does anyone know if Mr. Trisker served in WW1? I acquired the Mexican Service medal along with a US Victory medal, along with the service ribbon bar containing both ribbons. Edited August 17, 2011 by Obergefreiter
army historian Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 It is more than likely Mr. Trisker served in WW1. You can write the US National Military Personnel Records people (using an Standard From 180, SF-180) if you have any information on the man. Also I believe you can check on his WW1 Draft cards info on line. Some of the more experienced US collectors may be able to help. Cheers Captain Albert
