Kvart Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Good evening. I've come across this medal, which I understand is Irish. But I don't collect Irish medals, and have no knowledge of it. Perhaps some of you can help me out here?
Danny70 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Hello Kvart, It's the 'Truce Commemorative Medal of 1971'. It was issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Anglo-Irish treaty, for surviving veterans of the Irish War of Independence who had already received the 1919-1921 medal. Regards - Danny
Kvart Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Hello Danny70. Thank you for your answer. Now my next question, is it worth anyting? What would a medal like this normally sell for?
Ulsterman Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Yes it is-rather a lot. Can we see the back please?
Kvart Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 Of course you can see the reverse of the medal. Here it is.
Ulsterman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 sweet! I know these have been copied/faked. I think yours is an original- these days they go for quite a chunk of change.
