I just wanted to post an interesting Cigarette Case I purchased at a local Antique Shop. It has an inscription that I've tried to highlight with my photo shop software. Tell me what you think...

Looks like "Untffz" (Unteroffizier) Scribblyname

Tom, I haven't seen a matchsafe with the same motif before. You mean you haven't heard of the von Stribblyname's? LOL!

Well, we may neve know who Unteroffizier Frebe? is but I will say one thing. You have got a very good eye to pick up that marking. Nice piece.

It's always a cool thing when the faint maker's marks and in this case, an etched name become apparent later, that make the piece all that much more interesting. Thank you Dan.
