bilylev
Hello, I have following medal. It is related to Egypt but not Egyptian at all. It could be of Italian origin judging acc. to a type of suspension. Can anybody to identify it? What is it, what is wording and letters on it, is the ribbon correct etc.? Any help will be appreciated. Regards

Arthur R
Hi Bilylev It does indeed appear to be Italian. The British Museum has a medal with a similar obverse design, made in Italy in 1932 : http://www.britishmu...x¤tPage=1 There are some Italian medical/first aid organisations with have "non merito di nascere chi visse sol per se" as their motto. The initials on the reverse of the medal might indicate the specific organisation which issued the medal.

JimZ
"non merito' di nascere chi visse sol per se" can be translated as "he who lives only for himself does not deserve to be born"
Matt R
Quite uncommon medal I would say. I think it could be dated 1900-1930's period and it related to a charity association called Associazione Italiana Pubblica Assistenza (Public Aid Italian Ass). No clue for the other acronymous. It must have been related to Red Cross and this medal was awarded to stretchers, imo. But there is very little information about it and I could only find a similar medal but with a different ribbon. A keeper indeed
