servicepub Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 This is a photo of a great aunt of mine. She was a nurse in the AEF and I have identified the medal as the American Red Cross medal for 12 months service overseas. Of the two ribbons the second appears to be the Veterans of Foreign Wars ribbon, however, I am stumped on the first ribbon which doesn't look like the 'watered' ribbon of the WWI Victory Medal. Any ideas?
Paul R Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Were these women considered "veterans" back then?
Kev in Deva Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) What about the "other" version of the early WW1 victory medal ribbon, that some times can be seen in period pictures? Kevin in Deva. Edited December 30, 2011 by Kev in Deva
JPL Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Could possibly be one of the many US WW1 service medal awarded by States, counties, or cities. Jean-Paul
