JapanX
 Tube is a really nice touch ain't it? These are pretty rare. Forget to tell that the name of recipient is Kunou Tsukasa. He was lieutenant in 39 infantry regiment and had 7th Imperial Court Rank.
Dieter3
The tube is FANTASTIC! A super, extra-nice touch to the an already incredible document. Love the imperial seal on it.

Dieter3
Looks like 2nd generation hardware on an original replacement ribbon. -OR- do you think it was made this way from day 1?
JapanX
Or maybe "type 1" and "type 2" were in use simultaneously. Two different workshops? Although the piece from my collection (really should try to find it ) has "type 1" gear
Dieter3
Quite possible! I wonder how long the medal was in production? If several years, it is possible that these type 2s represent later but original pieces. An unlikely theory, but the Showa Enthronement medal saw nearly 3 years of manufacturing. Just a thought, of which I have many, each one as equally crazy as the last. ;)
Gensui
Type 1, Type 2, first generation, second generation, Taishô piece, Shôwa piece - why is life so complicated? :P

Gensui
Nick, I have the feeling that you're minting these beauties by yourself?! Honestly, very nice to see the comparison of each medal. If my time would allow, I would make an Excel file with all characteristics of each medal for my better understanding...
