I found this badge on a Russian auction site... Remind you of anything? :o Eerie isn't it? :speechless1:

It is identified by the seller as a MVD badge of the "Office against organised drug traficking". I have yet to find ANY documentation on this item and strongly believe it to be (strongly hope it to be) an unadopted prototype.

    Still... Yikes! Too close.

    Frank,

IMO this is nothing more than an attempt to sell a fake anti-partisan badge. I strongly doubt any Russian entity would copy any design having 3rd Reich roots.

    You're darn tooting, Sailor!

By the way, the name of this seller (blue transparent letters) is "impact" ...

    Regards,

    Nick

P.S. Frank do you know this site? If no, you might find it interesting ;)

Have you seen their prices??? :o Good Lord all mighty! :wacky: You'd think they were selling Imperial Orders at those prices! :speechless: Almost every item has a zero too many left of the decimal... And the only items I need, they don't have.

Thanks, but if I dealed with those schmucks, I'd have to sell my car. They make Saslugi prices seem low, very low!

That's why many Muscovites don't have personal cars

Actually there is a probability (pretty low :)) that this was an honest mistake of the amateur seller.

The emblem of this department ("ФСКН - Федеральная служба РФ по контролю за оборотом наркотиков" http://www.fskn.gov.ru/eng.shtml) is indeed snake pierced by the sword...

"New badge" definitely has too many snakes :)

Thanks, already had this, I have the ODM pages for just about every single Russian ministry/department/sub department/agency/corner office/cubicle...

If they're like other Russian governmental web sites though, they tend to be VERY slow at upgrades. EMERCOM is 4 years behind the ball right now, the Defence Ministry made a new site 3 years after the last changes had taken effect, then didn't give a link from the old to the new... The list goes on and on... Even the main federal ODM site... FAPSI took care of the old one from 1999 to 2003 when they were sucked back into the FSB, nobody upgraded it until the new site in 2010, and 7 months later they bothered to put a link to the new one from the old one... Its usually a pain because even if you do stumble onto an ODM page, you can rarely be 100% sure its the one being presently used.

Side effect of permanent struggle for "efficiency enhancement" and "modernization"?

Do you know this source Frank?

    http://armygoods.ru/index.php?cat=551

If no, then I hope you'll find it interesting (at least as source for pictures of more then 10000 different modern russian "medals" (God save us all!) and countless thousands of badges). Also tons of military related stuff.

    Cheers,

    Nick

Thanks, most medals on that site are unofficial...

The official ones on there I already have, yes, all of them.

I only require a few more but they're proving to be quite hard to find, even Saslugi doesn't have them.

    That's why I called them

    ... "medals" ...

If it comes to that these (schmucks ? :)) don't have "official" medals at all!!!

As we both know RF has only 21 "official" (state) medal ;)

All others (no less than 23 000 medals  ) are just shiny nicknacks...

The fact that these shiny nicknacks issued by state ministries doesn't change a thing, since the very same ministries will sell them to you with blank documents and sometimes (for the special price of course ) with filled ones ...

Ministerial and departmental awards I consider official, but ONLY the ones with a "ministerial order". It's the other crap I can't stand... Airborne vets, Afghanistan vets, Awards Comittee, Jubilee Comittee etc...
