mickey Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 hi all i purchased this honor chord some time ago but have found it difficult to find any info on these items and wanted to ask members if these were officially presented or privately purchased and for what reason were they worn i have seen photos of uniformed servicemen or cadets wearing them and also some of civilians thanks
JapanX Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) Hi Mickey, nice chord! Congrats! These are of course unofficial awards. What they were intended for? Most likely they were awarded to members of different patriotic/paramilitary organizations, societies, etc. For what they were awarded? I don't have an exact answer Obviously "for some achievements" ... Here you will find some interesting examples of these chords http://www.imperialjapanmedalsandbadges.com/honorcords.html In a couple of days I'll post some additional examples with army symbols. Regards, Nick Edited July 4, 2012 by JapanX

JapanX Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Let`s take a look at these higly interesting examples.
mickey Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Thanks for posting the photos nick nice to see the army chords
JapanX Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Another example without any emblem (I wonder if emblems could be purchased separately )
mickey Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 good point nick i would imagine the chord would be a base item and the emblem added as per order especially family crests it would be nice if we could find out the relevance of why they were worn
