JapanX Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 On sale again Same fancy case (although this time without lining)
Gensui Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Well, Christmas is coming soon! Any needs for presents? BTW, it isn't the one from the auction? Or are we talking about two medals? BR, Chris
JapanX Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 BTW, it isn't the one from the auction? They call him Chris-Hintergesichtige!
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Let`s upgrade out photo gallery Intereresting photo of unknown cavalier (thanks to our colleague Mickey! http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/60847-1874-war-medal-photo/ ) 1
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Now Lieutenant General Nishidzima Sukuyeshi (1847-1933) (thanks for original scan Stas! ) 1
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Unfortunately I can`t find much info on him. Except for he was a commander of 2nd division from 8.09.1904 till 6.07.1906 http://www.japanrussia.ru/russko-aponskaa-voina-voina-na-suwe-aponskie-divizii-polki-i-brigadi-v-russko-aponskuy-voinu-1904-1905-gg-.html
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Here we have an earlier photo of him with "Taiwan"
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 What we have here if 4th class rising sun + Taiwan + ? This ? is really intriguing me
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 We know that upper bar cae from 1928-1933 time period. But from what time period came lower one? Well, we know for a fact that this earlier photo was made after October 25, 1886 since the ribbon has a rosette I wonder if this is a home-made later added rosette ...
JapanX Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 What is this medal on the right? So what is it? Red Cross medal? But if so, why there is no RC medal in later medal bar? Well, any ideas?
Gensui Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) Nice example with aura and charisma! Did somebody tried to clean the suspension and the ribbon or is the ribbon a late replacement? What I'm always confused about is the fact, that ribbons looks "better" compare to the medal itself. BR, Chris Edited February 15, 2014 by Gensui
JapanX Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Did somebody tried to clean the suspension Looks like patina pattern (or, another variant, something was lying on suspension for a looong time) clean... the ribbon or is the ribbon a late replacement? I don`t see any signs of cleaning. Ribbon could be later replacement, but it looks really nice and I think it came from Meiji epoch
JapanX Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 And this piece from posts #125-126 is making second round. At least photos are slightly better this time
Dieter3 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Yeah, saw that. No takers thus far at 280,000 yen starting price. I don't think people generally fancy jumping into an auction with high starting prices. Or maybe I'm just CHEAP.....
Gensui Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) Happy bidding! BR, Chris Edited March 14, 2014 by Gensui
Gensui Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 If you need another medal, I'll make you a special price for mine and could go for this cased beauty BR, Chris
