Scott Powell Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) This is part of a grouping that recently arrived,and I am curious as to why he wasn't awarded a Zentenarmedaille .I feel certain the answer is in front of my face yet I am somehow missing it. If I am reading the documents correctly he entered the Army in 1886,and retired as a Major in 1922. He was awarded The LDA2,LDA1, EK2 , War Help Medal during his service and in 1935 was awarded the Front Fighters Cross Here are scans of a couple of documents that came with the grouping that detail his service as well as his awards( the documents for his EK, Front Fighters Cross and War Help medal came with the grouping as well) If close ups of the documents are needed please let me know Any help will be most appreciated! I was under the impression all Prussian soldiers in both Dienstplicht and Landwehr got the medal, I learn something everyday. MANY thanks!!
turtle Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 The Centenarmedaille was only awarded to soldiers on ACTIVE service on march 22 1897 and to ex-servicemen who participated in the wars of 1848/49 , 1864 , 1866 or 1870/71. Would you show more of the grouping?

All of the medals came with the grouping but are unmounted. If you would like to see them let me know and I'll scan them as well

He was lucky enough to get an early EK as his front service was pretty short ;-) I have a similar EK, also to an "old Guy"... he was alo a Haupmann, heart attack 2nd day of combat, sent home with an EK2 and no further war service ...
