Yankee Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Hello, as promised, I would like to add the pictures of my 1st Class, officers' Militärdienstzeichen for 50 years service. The piece is in gilt silver and black enamel; the suspension loop is struck with the "A"; "Windhundkpof" and "FR" marks, while the suspension ring is struck with the "Windhundkopf" and "FR" marks. Obverse: OUTSTANDING
Elmar Lang Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 (edited) ...and my own piece of the interesting variation with the "Rudolphine" crown (as illustrated in Mericka's book, page 190, ill. 122 - 17/d/l): Edited April 5, 2013 by Elmar Lang
tifes Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Hello, this is a most interesting discussion indeed. In the next weeks, I will organize myself to take some pictures of my Militärdienstzeichen, including the gilt silver 1st Class cross I've recently added to my collection. It's interesting to know that very few officers, besides the Emperor himself, were entitled for the highest class: is the list available? Best wishes, E.L. P.S.: I agree: Vaclav Mericka was one of the deepest scholars in phaleristic: I hope one day his unpublished studies would be printed and his immense collection catalogued and published. Congratulation. This is how MDZ for 50 years should be looking like. Original piece, no doubt about it. And yes there is a list of all awarded officers available. Regards, tifes
Iver Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 ...here is a decree for MDZ 2.class for 40 years of service... has someone more informations on this officer? thanks...
Elmar Lang Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Well, this is a very, very fine document indeed!Enzo
Tim B Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 These awards are so beautiful. One sold on Ebay last month for $546. Looked very nice to my eyes but I didn't have $500. laying around.Tim

Tim B Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) Yes, I know but every now and then....you can get lucky on items. Edited September 18, 2015 by Tim B
Elmar Lang Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) For instance, an extremely fine original, was auctioned in Turin, Italy, on the past June, from the Fattovich Collection. Edited September 18, 2015 by Elmar Lang
Yankee Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 It was that perfect example from the Turin auction my thoughts were on. Was surprised the altered ones went for a good price too. Lucky to have acquired one of the inscribed pieces that looks correct for the period. There is a 50 year one inscribed to an Arch Duke floating around in the States-now I just need the luck........
