turtle Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I want you to show this medal bar I obtained recently. Unfortunately it's not that easy do get UK medal bars in Germany. The bar consist of the 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star, Defence Medal and War Medal
Tony Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Did it come with any paperwork? It's a pity these weren't named. I don't have many WWII British medals but wouldn't mind having an Air Crew Europe group together with the paperwork. There's a 5 piece medal bar on ebay.de at the moment, well, it's been there for months and months and only priced at about 4 times the retail price. Tony
turtle Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) No, unfortunately no paperwork came with it. I bought this bar, because it was really cheap, around 40-45EUR and I like the Africa Star. I´ve seen this medal bar you mentioned on ebay, too. It´s waaaaay overpriced!! British medals aren´t my area of collecting, but I thought it would be nice to have a few medals from the allied forces, too. Now I just need a nice WWI pair or trio. Mervyn Mitton Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I take-it that the medals are not named - this will make them a British group. Those to South Africans were named. The Africa Star covered quite a wide area for qualification - but, most often it is the campaign in North Africa. Mervyn

Michael Johnson Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) If it were Canadian the Defence and War Medals would be in silver, and there would be a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. New Zealand medals weren't named, but there would be a New Zealand service medal. His service would not necessarily be North Africa - the Africa Star also covered Malta and Greece.
