Dave Danner Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 The Austrian Military Merit Cross was for officers, so your guy was likely a junior officer - Lt.d.R., Lt.z.S. or the like. Maybe not a native of Hamburg, since he placed the Hamburg decoration lower on the later bars. Possibly a reserve officer in WW2. An E-Offizier with WW1 and post-war service in Schlesien would likely have at least a Wehrmacht 4-year DA. The HH after the FKE is incorrect, but since these are the ones with tabs that come off individually, someone probably just mismounted them.
christerd Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 (edited) Thanks Dave , I wonder why they did these " half-size " bars ? Thay seems to be WW 2 time , in contrast to the sometimes really wide WW 1 ones they look really small Maybe saving on war materiel ? When looking closer to the last ribbonbar I realise that its broken at the end , and at least one more award (the Bulgaria Com M ) is missing. Christer Edited May 22, 2013 by christerd
