JapanX Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Type III “Prince Taruchito” (a.k.a. "Rose ribbon") Interesting variation of type II. Same form of the medal, but different inscription on reverse. Edited June 1, 2013 by JapanX
JapanX Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 Could be 平安遷都千百年紀念祭協贊會総裁大勲位熾仁親王贈焉 i.e. in commemoration of 1100th Year Anniversary of the Capital Foundation/Transfer President of Support Association (Festival Committee President) Prince Taruchito awarded with the order of Chrysanthemum Meiji 28 Nen (1895) What do you think guys?
JapanX Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 The right box for Type III would be a lacquered one
JapanX Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 A gallery of obverses (type I/ type II / type III)

JapanX Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 Type I was made in a silver-plated alloy. Types II and III were made in silver. Cheers, Nick
Gensui Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Nick, Excellent overview, as usual! So, all the different types and variations let me think, that this medal is not official announced? Different makers? BR, Chris
JapanX Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 So, all the different types and variations let me think, that this medal is not official announced? It wasn't Different makers? Yes, but what really puzzles me is these different ribbon colors ...
Gensui Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Then, the next question would be if there were any possibilities to wear this medal together with “official” ones? Or let it put me like this way around: are there any regulations which allows (or to ban) the combination of official and unofficial medals? BR, Chris
JapanX Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) Then, the next question would be if there were any possibilities to wear this medal together with official ones? I think this is practically impossible. Especially on official uniform. Or let it put me like this way around: are there any regulations which allows (or to ban) the combination of official and unofficial medals? Well, they certainly should be somewhere One thing is for certain - we don't see such combinations on photos Cheers, Nick Edited June 2, 2013 by JapanX
Dieter3 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Very nice thread! I have not collected any of these, but I'm sure interested now that you've shown so much variety here. Thanks! Do you think though that the green one is really green, or is it a faded turquoise?
JapanX Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Do you think though that the green one is really green, or is it a faded turquoise? More than sure since I have both colors in my "miscellaneous drawer"
