Guest Rick Research
No name on the 23rd Infantry Regiment Leutnant, Robert? The only time there WAS a Reichsheer unit of that number was during the "Provisional" period 1919-20, when they wore the "string bean" shoulder cords, so this must have been taken in some very brief period after the old rank insignia came back, but before the April 1920 final reduction in forces. I have a "Provisional" Stellenliste, and all the IR 23 Leutnants listed were SAXON-- this fellow was an ex-PRUSSIAN noncomissioned officer. "Provisional" Artillery Regiment 23, Transport Btn 23, and Signals Btn 23 were... BAVARIAN. The Stellenliste shows whee each officer came from in the old army-- and I can't find any Prussian "strays!"The two colored overcoats are using up old pre-war issues at the recruit depot-- dark blue, and pale gray.I can read everything BUT the pilot-private's name. Robert Noss
Thanks so far.The photo of the Leutnant has only the photographer stamp on the back.It was taken in Neisse, maybe that helps ?I do now know the forename of the pilot. It is Hyronimus. On the back is a dedication to his brother. And You see the name also on the front, but he has shortened it to Hyr.I scan the back later and post it also.Kind regardsRobert

Robert Noss
Here is the back of the pilot's photo:The dedication says:"Gewidmet zum treuen Andenken an Deinen Bruder. Hyronimus"The rest looks more like somebody has tested his pencil.Robert
