SR stands for SUTLEG RANGERS. The SIND REGIMENT did not come into existence until 1980.

Just a small piece of info regarding Sutlej Rangers.

In 1969, Sutlej Rangers was restructured and a new Unit was raised name Chenab Rangers..

Are there only combat stars for 1965 and 1971? I've seen (for around here) a relative "lot" of loose campaign medals (hard to believe our local population of Pakistanis is ditching family awards, but why different than anyone else who don't care?) but that's the first campaign star.

 

 

And.... nobody knows what "S. R." was? The Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecret Regiment?

 

And what about the apparent ethnic (?) oddity of the fellow whose star started all this?

SR = Sutlej Rangers.   After River Sutlej which one of the 5 rivers in Punjab.  In the 1965 war,  troops were deployed on all the rivers of Pakistan.
