Noor Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Hi all, I picked up that letter because I haven't seen this kind of postal stamps before. Does any of you have seen them? I presume these were common enough or was it used just from the special formation upwards?
JapanX Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Blue one reads "From front-line forces" It was used between 1914 and 1917. All letters from army to Empire were free of charge. During official registration of letter these stamps were used to indicate that "From front-line forces" can be in purple, blue or red ink. Of course there were unit stamps in Russian Imperial Army during WWI. Actually around 20 000 of such stamps! Edited August 15, 2013 by JapanX

Noor Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Thank you so much! I don't start new one but here is a photo that I found as well. I presume imperial Russia religion awards and badges are almost different story but its still looks really beautiful on the picture! Any ideas what badge it is? Noor
JapanX Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 The badge on the left looks like Ecclesiastic Academy Graduation Badge. Could be St.Petersburg Ecclesiastic Academy ...
