Unknown Medal - Camel - Spinks and Son

Picked this up at a Garage Sale yesterday and have no idea what it is just know by the label it was made by Sinks and Son.....

It's the Abu Dhabi Good Service Medal instituted sometime in the late 60s. Awarded For 8 years' service in the Abu Dhabi Defence Force. Nice with original box.

And how, one wonders, did it make its way to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. No there would be a story for the next contest! As far as I know, even at our infamous 'Camp Mirage' - the non-existant Canadian air base in Yemen - the CF never had a Camel Corps. Unlike the US Army! True story - look it up.

Maybe they had a camel section in the Calgary Stampede.

The funny thing is that in the 1920's they did have Camel racing at the Stampede......

But because of the flooding they had to cancel them this year.....
