brian conyngham Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) Discovered this grave at the little "dorp" (village) of Kamieskroon on the West Coast of the Western Cape a few days ago whilst on holiday! Edited September 2, 2013 by brian conyngham
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Fantastic! Thanks. There is no ABO Medal issued to a Boonzaier or Boonzaaier, The 2 i am aware of (one of them above) who fought on the Boer side were both Cape Rebels. I do have a QSA/KSA to one in the Cape Garrison Artillery.
IrishGunner Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I do have a QSA/KSA to one in the Cape Garrison Artillery. At least one Boonzaier was smart enough to get into the artillery...
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 At least one Boonzaier was smart enough to get into the artillery... He served with the badies... as well as being in the artillery.....
brian conyngham Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Chris Pleased you now have this info, this little village is very much in the Cape and any members who served in the Boer Forces would definatelty have been classified as rebels. July to September is classified as "flower season" in this part of the Cape, huge areas bloom with wild flowers after the Winter rains, bringing thousands of visitors to this region every year. An amazing sight to see, one of the loyal GMIC members Brett worked in this region for many a year. Brian
