Chris Boonzaier Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Finally getting a move on wit the Iron Cross book after quite some time asleep at the wheel... i found this EK2 Award doc.....
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Especially in Flanders he was always ready to go out on patrol... and do some Leitungsflicken.... i.e. repair telephone lines destroyed by artillery...
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Not a nice job, when others could shelter in Bunkers....
Bernhard H.Holst Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Hello Chris. First off I like the word play. Then I do appreciate some exposure of the much neglected "Strippenzieher" and "Strippenflicker" on which depended so much. Whether artillery or where ever. Today and recently wireless makes those harsardous undertakings unnecessary. Thanks for posting this. Bernhard H. Holst
IrishGunner Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 (edited) Did the logbook entry come with the EK doc? Or did you dig that out somewhere else? I've got my second EK doc to an artilleryman coming in the mail... I'll scan when it gets here. Edited September 20, 2013 by IrishGunner
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 20, 2013 Author Posted September 20, 2013 Hi, As he was with the staff I guess he managed to get himself a copy of it. :-) So it was a little bonus that came with the EK document.
turtle Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Nice documents!! Those recommendation documents are always great, if possible to acquire, shedding light on the actions which earned them their Eiserne Kreuze!
