Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Does anyone know where the above battalion was active in November/December 1914? These landsturm battalions are pretty hard to pin down... Thanks Chris
E Williams Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Chris, do you know what Regt they were part of in 1914?
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Hi, the Landsturm Battalions were independant, so no Regiment. It was part od Armee Abteilung Falkenhausen, serving in Lorraine, somewhere between Metz and Strasbourg, but as I said, pinning down individual Landsturm Battalions is like trying to pin down Fussartillerie
E Williams Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 There were two part of the 13 Div, Inf Btn Cassel and Mayence but I can't find Ktown in my book, it might be there but without a Regt or Div number, it's a bit difficult.
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 P.S. I am talking independant in 1914, not intergrated into a regiment at that stage
arb Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Chris, have you got a name of an officer in the unit? With that, I can check ancestry.de for his record and we might be able to find out where they were. Andy
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Just a plain old Gefreiter d. Landsturm Mosbach ;-)
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 I guess the correct term would be II B.1 – bayerisches Landsturm-Infanterie-Bataillon Kaiserslautern ?
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 OK, found it ;-) They were at Blamont and Badonwiller...
