Chip
Chris,Very nice pair from a seldom seen manufacturer. Only about one in twenty that you see are complete with original neck strap and protective cover. I think you now officially collect these.... :)

Chris Boonzaier
Does anyone have an Idea what GGF 25 could mean on the case?
MG1918
I don't know what it means but you must be British with such 'understatement' "I don't really collect these......." says Chris......then shows a superb high quality selection. Crikey! What else do you not collect? :>)
E Williams
Does anyone have an Idea what GGF25 could mean on the case?I've gone through all my books, if it was GG, no problem or GF, no problem but about all I can come up with for GGF is Garde-Grenadier Feldhaubitz (munitionskolonne)or Festungs. E Williams
Hi, I dont think it can be, they are bavarian, BestChrisI have a Luger coming that is unit marked S.A.54. According to Handbuch Deutscher Waffenstempel 1871-2000 by Albrecht Wacker and Joachim Gortz, page109, they identify another Luger S.A.3. as Feldsignal Abteilung waffe 3, as the Bavarian Signal Unit organized in 1910. It doesn't have the 'B' designator in the unit description which surprised me and to my delight. According to other reference, including Kaisercross, at the outbreak in 1914, Signal Abts were part of the Cavalry Divisions which was delightful also to find. There wasn't that many Signal Units in existence out the outbreak in 1914, and only two or three before that.I've found references to G.G. and G.F. but nothing for G.G.F. directly. Chip
I don't think its a unit mark, but rather a manufacturer mark. It could be a post-war case. They did continue to make these for domestic and export sales.Chip
