Saw this one over the weekend and couldn't resist a few photos. Couldn't remember this design but the catch, hinge and obverse made me think it was OK.

    Opinions?

    Hi Brian,

Well, this is a strange beast! The obverse shows that it?s an example by B&NL. The reverse confirms this by having the correct hinge assembly and recessed catch. The rivets are something of a mystery (possibly very late) as is the maker mark. As Richard points out, this maker mark is a worry.

Deumer badges retained the oblong hinge plate and round catch plate throughout their zinc series.

So, we most likely have an unmarked B&NL badge with a post-war stamping of a bogus Deumer maker mark or a cast copy of same. If it is a copy, it?s been very well done.

It was strange to me too and that's why I passed on it. The obverse looked good for it didn't say Deumer to me... The clasp and hinge looked good but the rivets were very weird. I would have expected some better finishing...

I'll blow up the reverse when I get back to my camera and see if there are any tell tale signs of casting. And yes the MM doesn't look like what few I do know about.

So no other Deumer badges with other people's parts then?

Perhaps it's a Deuner and not a Deumer from Luedenscheid :P

I didn't even notice that one before. So somebody got these unmarked perfectly nice badges and marked them with bad marks like Deuner? Or, is this a bad badge even by B&NL? I like the badge though... Very convincing.
