Leuchtturm Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Hi there, here´s the next of my British bars. What do you think about it? Only the Efficiency Medal is named: W. 1013 S. SJT. W.J. SIMCOCK. A.T.S. Someone can help me? Who is awarded? Best wishes Chris
Noor Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 A.T.S. stands for Auxiliary Territorial Service - a women's branch in the British army during the WW2. From 1949 onwards this became Women's Royal Army Corps. Did quick check but can't find her name. WW2 awards is still hard to research because most of the papers are still with the MoD. Regards, Timo
Noor Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Also I think medals are mounted wrong way around - Efficiency should be the last place.
Leuchtturm Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Hi there, very interesting. Thank you. Best wishes Chris
peter monahan Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 The Efficiency Medal was awarded for a minimum of 12 years service, with war service counting double, so even if she was in for all or most of WWII she must have been in before 1939 or stayed after 1945, I think, to qualify for that! A nice find to an important service.
