    Guys,

Not sure where these would belong, perhaps WW1 WHW equivalent?

    Jock:)

I think that Braunschweiger one "belongs" in my collection. ;):P

    Hi Jock,

I can help you with the second badge from left. It is the

Mitgliedsabzeichen des Braunschweiger Landwehr-Verbands von 1875

(Member Badge of the Brunswick Reserve-Forces Association, foundet in 1875).

    Nice badge!

    Regards

    Chris

Are these then like the WHW type stuff worn at fund raising events etc?

    Jock:)

Jocko, no, these were not for fund raising like WHW. The veterans decorations (Krieger Bund, Krieger Verein, Krieger Verband, etc) were veterans organizations that were organized either by region, town, or regiment in the late 19th century. They were more social in nature than were later post-WWI veterans organizations in other countries, like the British Legion or American Legion. They were the forerunners to the German organizations like Kyffhäuserbund in the inter-war years.

That is interesting as the Kyffhauser I just put up on the appropriate thread (eventually) was with this group of stuff, so were the shoulder boards (also posted) that appear unidentified, maybe these shoulder boards are something to do with a veterans association? Maybe i need to post it all together to decipher its origin?

    Thanks

    Chris,

Thanks for the detail, that would make sense as Braunschweig is local!

These being with the Kyffhäuser badge (which is also very nice!) makes perfect sense. I have to take a look at the shoulder boards...
